Tamaqua hires coaches

The Tamaqua Area School Board hired a number of coaches at its monthly meeting this week.

Joshua Shilko, a physical education teacher in the school district, was hired as the Blue Raiders new golf coach, replacing Greg Surotchak.

Head coaches who were retained in their current positions included Tom Kanger, cross country and track and field; Jeff Reading, baseball; Amanda Luna, softball; Jennel Yelito, boys and girls tennis; and Melissa Hess, cheerleading.

The board also approved the following assistant coaches: Eric Nunemacher, girls soccer; Mike Sakash, cross country and track and field; Ellen Troxell, swimming; and Chuck Fayash, track and field.

Volunteer assistants who were approved included Dave Malkin, Lansford, football, and Jerry Zubey, Tamaqua, cross country and track and field.
