Pedestrian struck by hit/run driver

A pedestrian was struck by a hit and run driver. State police at Lehighton said the incident occurred along SR115 at the Sunset Diner in Ross Township, Monroe County, on Saturday, May 29. It was one of several accidents probed by troopers in recent days.

Troopers said a vehicle was traveling northbound about 10:36 a.m. when it struck a pedestrian, who was walking along the shoulder of the road. After impact the driver failed to stop and fled tne scene.

The pedestrian was identified as Frank A. Delillo, 24, of Nazareth. He was injured and taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, by Wind Gap ambulance.

The hit and run vehicle is believed to be a Chevrolet Malibu, blue in color. Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at 610-377-4270.

Troopers investigated a crash about 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 28, along Behrens Road, in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Brian D. Downs, 47, of Jim Thrope, was driving a 1995 Chevrolet Prism too fast for a curve when his vehicle went onto the berm and struck a tree.

Downs was not injured. He was cited for traveling on roadways laned for traffic.

Speed was blamed for a crash that occurred about 5:50 p.m. on Sunday, May 30, along Beagle Run Road, in Eldred Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Ray Flyte, 33, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 2006 Yamaha V Star motorcycle at an excessive speed when the bike left the road and crashed into a wooded area. Flythe sustained a moderate injury but did not required medical attention. Damages were minor to the bike.

Troopers cited Flythe for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.

Troopers said about 4 p.m. on Friday along SR248, in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County, John C. Renner, 57, of Manassas, Va., was driving a Honda Odyssey when he struck a deer that entered the road in front of him. Renner was not injured.
