Memorial Day Parade

The annual Memorial Day Parade sponsored by the United Veterans Organization of Monroe County will be held Monday May 31, beginning at 10 a.m. This year's parade will be as big as ever and will follow the regular parade route starting from East Stroudsburg South High School down North/South Courtland Street to Washington Street , then over the Interborough Bridge, into Stroudsburg and ending near Main and 7th streets. Veteran's organizations, boy and girl scouts, area fire departments, police departments, the County Sheriff's Office, and other community groups will participate in the parade along with marching bands from the East Stroudsburg Area and Stroudsburg Area school districts.

WE memorial service

The American Legion in Gilbert will hold a Memorial Day service at 11 a.m., Monday, May 31, at the post home in Gilbert. Guest speakers and light refreshments will be part of the ceremony.

Lioness meet

The Western Pocono Lioness Club will meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 25, at the American Legion, in Gilbert.

The program will be presented by Dean Greene, chairman of Operation Touch of Home.

The Lioness Club will be presenting a check to his organization to help cover the cost of mailing items to the area's brave service personnel overseas.

Rotary speaker

The West End Rotary will host Ed Gallagher as speaker on May 27 at the club's weekly breakfast meeting. He will talk about KSE Enterprises. The club meets at the Western Pocono Community Library

PV Board meets

The Pleasant Valley School District Board of Education will meet at 8 p.m., Thursday, May 27, at the District Office in Brodheadsville.

Reptile program

West End Park and Open Space Commission will host "Reptiles in the Park" from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, May 29 at the Chestnuthill Park, Brodheadsville. Learn about the reptile kingdom and their natural habitats. Hold-Pet-Play and take pictures is the invitation. Visit www.klcreepycreatures.com
