Carbon crash
A Northampton County driver was taken to a Lehigh Valley area hospital following a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 2:10 p.m. on Saturday, June 12, along SR248 in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County.
State police at Lehighton said Philip L. Hurst, 62, of Bath, was driving a 2003 GMC Envoy when he attempted to pass another vehicle and lost control and crashed.
Hurst was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, by Palmerton ambulance. Troopers said alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash.
Troopers are also seeking the driver of a 1996 Toyota sedan that crashed along Weir Lake Road, near Kunkletown Road, in Ross Township, Monroe County, about 9:50 p.m. on Friday, June 10. The Toyota left the road and crashed into trees. The driver fled the scene prior to the arrival of troopers.
