A Schuylkill County woman was seriously injured in a one vehicle crash that occurred about 4:46 a.m. on Sunday, June 13, in the area of 77 Sweet Arrow Lake Road in Pine Grove Township. It was one of several crashes investigated by state police at Schuylkill Haven.

Troopers said Crystal Jones, 41, of Pine Grove, was driving a Ford Explorer eastbound when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle entered the oncoming lane of travel and went onto the north berm. The vehicle then sideswiped a mailbox with the drivers' side. The Ford continued east and then crashed through a utility pole with the driver's side front.

Jones was flown from the scene by Lifeflight helicopter to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, for treatment of serious injuries to her legs and hips, troopers said. Damages were severe to the Ford.

Troopers investigated a crash involving a tractor-trailer rig that occurred about 11:05 a.m. on Thursday, June 10, along SR183 (Pottsville St.), near the intersection with Prescott St., in Cressona. Troopers said Frederick G. Millar, 47, of Dungannon, Ontario, Canada, was driving a 2008 Kenworth W9 northbound transporting a wide load when he attempted to yield to oncoming traffic. The load being transported a Komatsu HD605 truck, struck a Verizon utility pole with the passenger side tires breaking the pole in half.

The road was closed for about 45 minutes until Verizon personnel could stabilize the pole. No one was injured and there was not damage to the rig.

A crash was reported at 10:40 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, along E. Bacon St., in Palo Alto borough. Troopers said Stanley J. Nebistinsky, 59, of Pottsville, was westbound in a 1995 Saturn SL1 when he veered to the left, crossed the center line, went into the eastbound lane and struck a parked 2005 Chevrolet Equinox. No one was injured.

Troopers cited Nebistinsky for traveling on roadways laned for traffic.

Troopers are investigating a hit-and-run accident that occurred on June 5 in the parking lot of Goodfellas Tavern in Mt. Carbon. A 2003 Jeep Cherokee sustained damages to the back bumper and a broken left taillight. Troopers said another vehicle was pulling out of the lot when it struck the parked Jeep. The other driver then fled the scene.
