Retail theft arrests

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on two retail theft arrests made at the Wal-Mart store in Mt. Pocono.

On June 6 about 2:20 a.m. officers were called to the store by security personnel for a person stopped for theft. Walter Pete Savarese, 27, of Staten Island, N.Y., was in custody. He allegedly took $254.28 in electronic items from the store without paying for them. He was taken into custody and charged.

On Saturday, June 19, about 2:37 p.m. officers were called to the store. William Mahon, 28, of Pocono Summit, was stopped by store security for allegedly taking guitar strings valued at $15.89 from the store without paying for them. Police noted this was his second retail theft arrest. He was placed in the county prison in Snydersville, pending arraignment, police said.
