A deer was blamed for a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, June 27, along Sugar Hollow Road, in Chesthuthill Township, Monroe County.

State police at Fern Ridge said Steven A. Lambert, 22, of Effort, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt southbound when he said he swerved to avoid a deer crossing the road. The car crossed the northbound lane and went onto the east shoulder. The car then went down a steep embankment and began to strike some trees. The car continued down the embankment and into the woods where it came to rest.

Lambert was not injured, troopers said.
