Schuylkill crash

One person was injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 9:05 a.m. on Friday, June 25, along Zion Grove Road in Union Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Raymond P. Witcoski, 44, of Shenandoah, was driving a 1990 Chevrolet C2500 pickup truck northbound when the vehicle left the road and struck a utility pole with the right front bumper.

A passenger, Walter J. Kuczynski Jr., 50, of Gilberton, was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by rescue personnel. He was then flown by LifeFlight helicopter to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, for treatment of injuries. Troopers said both the driver and passenger were not wearing seat belts.

Witcoski sustained a minor injury and was taken to St. Catherine's Hospital, Ashland. Troopers said Witcoski will be cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic and not wearing a seat belt. Damages were termed severe to the vehicle.
