Cruelty to animals incident probed
State police at Fern Ridge are investigating a cruelty to animals incident in which a dog was poisoned.
Troopers said the 4-year-old chocolate lab of an unnamed 31-year-old male from 1240 Meadowlark Drive, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, was poisoned sometime between May 19 and 20. The dog died May 21 at the Homestead Veterinarian Clinic in Jonas. Troopers said a blood screen was conducted at the clinic and it was determined the dog died of excessive amounts of a poisoning commonly used in killing rats.
