GAR Cemetery to be rededicated
The Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery Association Board of Directors will be holding a rededication service on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the main gate of the Cemetery on the 500 block of East White Street.
The service will be followed by a free hosted walking tour of the cemetery grounds with an anecdotal and descriptive history of the cemetery and its residents as well as the monuments and their architecture.
Scheduled to participate in the service are Mayor Paul McArdle, Father Jim Burdess of St. Joseph's/St. Stanislaus parish, Reverend Fred Rogers of Hope Presbyterian Church in Summit Hill and Shade Tree Commission Chairperson Lou Vermillion as well as volunteers from the Board of Directors and the Summit Hill American Legion Post 316 Color Guard. All are welcome to attend this special service and ribbon cutting.
