North and Middle Ward Playground

The North and Middle Ward Playground, Washington St., Tamaqua, will hold a Kids Treasure Hunt and dance party on Saturday, June 5.

The treasure hunt, similar to an Easter egg hunt, will begin at 5:30 p.m. The age group categories are 3 and under, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12. There will be hundreds of toy treasures hidden throughout the park. Bring a bag for your loot.

Music will be provided by Original Sounds DJs Brad and Kathy Murphy from 6-9 p.m.

The best pirate or princess costume gets a prize.

There will also be refreshments, baked good, pirate slushies, Matey Tattoos and a dance contest.

Light the Town Purple

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Tamaqua and surrounding communities will hold its second annual "Light the Town Purple" event on Sunday, June 6.

The fountain at Depot Square Park at the Five Points intersection in downtown Tamaqua will be lit with purple lights at 9 p.m. to help promote the upcoming Relay For Life on June 25-26.

All cancer survivors and their caregivers are invited to attend the ice cream social immediately preceding the lighting in front of the Restaurant at The Station at 8 p.m. that evening.

Both events are open to the public and are free of charge.

Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, Tamaqua, will hold its Sunday Worship service on June 6 at 10:30 a.m. Sunday School will be held at 9:30 a.m.

On Tuesday, June 8, prayer time will be held at 8:30 a.m. Playground Pals is at 11:30 a.m. Griefshare will be held at 1:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, June 9, Waterside Whistle Stop is at 11:30 a.m., TYM at 6:30 p.m. and Prayer and Bible Study is at 6:30 p.m.

St. John UCC

St. John United Church of Christ, 150 Pine Street, will hold its Sunday worship service at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 6. The church is having Holy Communion and will be recognizing its graduates. Nursery will be provided during the service.

The weekly radio broadcast will air at 11:30 a.m. on WLSH Radio, 1410 AM.

The consistory will meet on Monday, June 7 at 7 p.m.

Tamaqua YMCA camp

The Tamaqua YMCA is currently accepting summer camp registration.

Zion Church

Zion Church, located at 489 Valley Rd. in Lewistown Valley, will honor its graduates as part of the 10:45 a.m. church service on Sunday, June 6 with Pastor Sunny Stock. Sunday School is at 9:30 a.m.

Zion Church and Calvary Church will hold a joint Vacation Bible School next week, Monday through Friday, June 7-11, from 6-8:15 p.m. at Zion Church.
