Schuylkill crash
State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating a one vehicle crash about 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, along SR183 in Wayne Township, Schuylkill County.
Troopers said Sean M. Holliday, 24, of Lititz, Lancaster County, was driving a 1996 GMC Jimmy northbound in the passing lane and approaching the crest of a hill near Summer Mountain Road. Holliday attempted to gain additional speed by pressing down on the accelerator which caused him to lose control of the vehicle.
The Jimmy began to fishtail as Holliday attempted to correct the movement of the vehicle but failed. The Jimmy left the northbound passing lane and traveled across the road and onto the berm where it traveled about 15 feet before striking a grassy embankment. The vehicle then began to turn counter-clockwise and continued to travel along the embankment for about 30 feet before turning and landing on its roof.
The vehicle then slid about 20 feet before coming to rest on the shoulder of the road facing east.
Holliday and his passenger, Andrew M. Miller, 22, also of Lititz, were injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for treatment.
Holliday was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
