Summit Hill
Lutheran Church
St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, will hold a worship service with Confirmation on Sunday, May 30, at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. John Hazel, pastor, will officiate.
A special congregational meeting will be held on Sunday, June 6, immediately following the worship service.
Items to be discussed are the expense ratio with Zion Lutheran Church, Nesquehoning, the Simply Giving Program, and consideration of selling the parsonage.
The church council encourages all members to attend this important meeting that is vital to the future of St. Paul's.
Methodist Charge
The schedule for the Coaldale-Summit Hill United Methodist Charge for Sunday, May 30, is as follows:
Worship services will be held at 9 a.m. in the Summit Hill United Methodist Church and at 11 a.m. in the Coaldale United Methodist Church. The Rev. Burgess Gordon, pastor, will preside at both services.
The adult Sunday school will meet at 9:45 a.m. in the Coaldale church.
Presbyterian church
The schedule for the Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, Summit Hill, for Sunday, May 30, is as follows: Junior choir, 8:45 a.m.; adult Bible class, 9 a.m.; Sunday school, 9:15 a.m.; and service of worship, 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Frederick W. Rogers, pastor, officiating. Child care is provided.
White Bear service
The annual memorial service at St. Joseph Cemetery, White Bear, will take place on Sunday, May 30, at 1 p.m. The keynote address will be offered by Skip LaPolice, an Allentown Diocese permanent deacon assigned to the parish church.
Ludlow Park service
Summit Hill's annual Memorial Day service will be held in Ludlow Park on Monday, May 31, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Carbon County Commissioner William O'Gurek will give the keynote address.
W. Kevin O'Donnell, commander of Post 316, will be the master of ceremonies. The invocation will be asked by the Rev. James Burdess, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill.
Paul R. McArdle Sr., past commander and the current mayor of the community, will offer the welcome. Student orators will be David Paul, Devin Parambo and Kristen Halenar, Marian High School students.
Gregory Miller, Post 316 chaplain and a past commander of the post and the Carbon County Inter-Post Association, will read the Roll Call of Deceased Veterans.
Coaldale
Memorial Day Service
The annual Memorial Day service will be held at First Congregational Church, Coaldale, at 9 a.m. Sunday, May 30.
The photo slide show of local veterans will begin at 8:50 a.m. Attendees are asked to be seated by that time.
The Rev. William H. Edwards, will be the guest speaker and the Community Choir will sing. Sunday School will be held at 10 a.m.
Choir rehearsal will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 2.
A baccalaureate service will be conducted at the church at 9 a.m. Sunday, June 6 with Sunday School following at 10 a.m.
