State police at Lehighton reported on three driving under the influence (DUI) arrests made by troopers over the past weekend. One vehicle stop also led to the arrest of two passengers on drug charges.

On Saturday, June 19, about 10:02 p.m. troopers stopped a vehicle along Little Gap Road, at Lower Smith Gap Road, in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County, because the driver had the high beams on while passing oncoming vehicles. The driver was identified as David Cummings, 44, of Lehighton. He was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest for DUI and taken into custody.

Two passengers with him, Jeanne Thorpe, 37, and Daniel Thorpe, 25, both of Nesquehoning, had prescription medications in their possession that were not prescribed for them. They were both taken into custody on drug charges. The three were taken to the barracks for processing and later released.

Also on Saturday, about 10 a.m., troopers responded to the area of SR903 and Maury Road, in Penn Forest Township, Jim Thorpe, to a report of a reckless driver. Troopers stopped a vehicle in the area for a cracked windshield and damaged hood. The driver was identified as Natasha Lee Bradley, 26, of Pottsville, driving a 1997 Volkswagen Jetta.

Bradley was found to be under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. It was determined the damage to the vehicle occurred from a prior crash. She will be charged with DUI, troopers said.

On Friday, June 18, about 12:47 p.m. troopers conducted a traffic stop along SR209 at Stagecoach Rd., in Towamensing Township, Carbon County. The driver was identified as Louise Lee Stofik, 49, of Palmerton. She was placed under arrest for DUI, troopers said.
