Tax Appeals
Blue Mountain School District won another appeal to have property tax increased on a property located in the school district boundary.
The appeal was on the property of Kenneth Knittle and Lori Blozousky, 200 Chestnut Ridge, Deer Lake Borough. After a hearing Judge John E. Domalakes increased the market value of the property from $100,000 to $190,000 and fixed the assessment on the property at $72,580 for 2008 taxes, $70,870 for 2009 taxes and $75,810 for 2010 taxes.
Gary and Catherine Cortese, 1801 Mahantongo Street, Pottsville, lost their appeal from the the decision of the Schuylkill County Board of Appeals who increased the value of the property on appeal of the Pottsville Area School District from $257,584 to $285,000. Judge Domalakes upheld the ruling and set the market value at $285,000 and fixed the asessment at $108,870 for 2008 taxes, $106,305 for 2009 taxes and $113,715 for 2010 taxes.
Revoke Special Probation
Debra Ann Zerbey, 49, Poirt Carbon, was removed by Judge John E. Domalakes from the Immediate Punishment Program, a special probation program, and was sentenced to serve 90 days to five years in a state correctional institution.
She was originally placed in the IPP last February 2 for a driving under the influence of charge and after serving 30 days in the county prison was released on probation for four years and 11 months but she violated terms of the probation and now must serve time in a state prison.
