Pocono arrests
Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on several arrests made by officers recently.
Police reported the arrest of a man wanted on a warrant. Officers received a tip that a man living in Pocono Pines was a fugitive from New Jersey. A check revealed that Brian J. Archibald, 40, of 11 Pine Cone Lane, had two arrest warrants issued from the Superior Court of N.J. He was taken into custody on Monday, June 14, about 3:45 p.m. and committed to the county prison in Snydersville pending extradition to New Jersey.
In another warrant incident on Wednesday, June 16, officers conducted a traffic stop along SR940 at Interstate 380 for an equipment violation. At the stop the driver was identified as Shakana Lisa Leonard-Middleton, 20, of Wilkes-Barre. A check revealed she was wanted out of Luzerne County for retail theft. She was taken into custody and placed in the county prison pending her return to Luzerne.
On Saturday, June 12, about 3:13 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop along Sullivan Trail Road, east of Long Pond Rd., in Long Pond, Tobyhanna Township, for a motor vehicle code violation.
The driver was identified as Aaron Proch, 23, of Gouldsboro; with the passnegers being Margie Mahon, 21, of Blakeslee, Anthony Providenti, 23, of Long Pond, and Erin Haney, 20, of Albrightsville. At the scene officers detected the odor of alcohol and determined that Haney appeared to be underage. Proch submitted to field sobriety tests, which he passed.
A search of his person revealed a sandwich bag containing marijuana. A serach of the remaining occupants also revealed marijuana and drug paraphernalia along with some paraphernalia found in the vehicle.
All were placed under arrest for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Monday, June 14, about 10:27 a.m. officers were dispatched to Lakeview Drive, Indian Mountain Lakes, Albrightsville, Tunkhannock Township, for a report of a female that overdosed on a controlled substance.
Upon arrival the female, identified as Elizabeth Briola, 27, of Philadelphia, was cooperative and it was determined it was not a overdose. Police said is was determined that Briola was in possession of crack cocaine and heroin.
She was placed under arrest for varoius drug charges and placed in the county prison pending arraignment.
On Sunday, June 13, about 2:59 p.m. officers were called to the Walmart store in Mt. Pocono for a retail theft incident. Store security stopped Robert A. Silverence, 46, of Tobyhanna, allegedly attempting to remove two boxes containing flatware and one box containing dinerware from the store.
He was issued a citation for retail theft and released.
