Tamaqua man charged with arson
A Tamaqua man has been charged with arson and reckless endangerment after allegedly setting fires in his uncle's Tamaqua home.
Borough police and fire personnel were dispatched to 146 Spruce St. Wednesday at 5:38 a.m. for reported smoke in the structure and a male who was causing a disturbance. At the scene they found the home's owner, Paul Love, who said he awoke to the smell of smoke coming from the downstairs area. He went downstairs and found his nephew, Terrence Love, on the couch with two small fires on the floor. The homeowner was able to stomp out the fires before they caused much damage.
The nephew was questioned and taken into custody.
He was then arraigned before District Judge Stephen Bayer, Tamaqua, who set bail at $25,000 unsecured.
