Big water presents big challenge

A Pocono Whitewater raft sails through a wave at the Bridal Veil rapid in the Lehigh Gorge State Park Monday afternoon. The river was filled with rafters and kayakers because of a scheduled release of big water. The water gauges in White Haven were reading 3,570 cubic foot per second at the time the trip launched its rafts, more than four times faster than a normal dam release.
