Jim Thorpe womancelebrates 90th birthday

Kay Bimler of Jim Thorpe is celebrating her 90th birthday today. She was born Sept. 10, 1919 to the late Eugene and Isabella Fahey.

She was married to the late George Bimler, Sr.

She attended the former Immaculate Conception School and Mauch Chunk Catholic High School. She worked as an usherette at the Capital Theater (now Mauch Chunk Opera House), Newberry 5 & 10, and as a telephone operator.

Kay is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jim Thorpe, and a charter member of the Forever Young Individual Club (FYI) at St. Joseph Church.

Kay is the mother of three children: Maryanne, wife of Ronald Hydro of Jim Thorpe; George Jr. of Macungie; and Michael and his wife, Susan, of Mechanicsburg.

She also has five grandchildren: Ryan Hydro, Erin Hartman, Erica Shover, Susan Bimler, and Mary Bimler; and three great-grandchildren: Tyler Hartman, Sarah Hartman, and Colton Bimler.
