Palmerton home saved from fire

Quick response by area firemen saved a Palmerton home from a fire Sunday afternoon. Firefighters were dispatched just before 3 p.m. to the home of Danette Koma at 93 Lafayette Ave. after the homeowner reported to the Carbon County Communications Center there was a fire in the kitchen. When fire companies from Palmerton, Aquashicola and Bowmanstown arrived on scene they found heavy flames rolling from the rear portion of the two story wood frame single family dwelling. The occupants of the dwelling managed to escape the flames. Firefighters were on scene for two hours.
