Finalist in pre-teen academic program

Josie Vermillion, daughter of Joseph and Kathleen Vermillion, of Salisbury, N.C., formerly of Drums and Summit Hill, has been selected as a finalist in the Pre-Teen North Carolina Academic and Enrichment Program.

Held at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center in Durham, N.C., Pre-Teen North Carolina is a by-invitation only academic and enrichment event involving young ladies 7 to 12 years of age. The girls selected to participate have been recognized for their academic achievement, volunteer services, participation in school activities, leadership qualities and creative talents.

Josie was a recipient of the Academic Achievement Award for outstanding scholarship. She is one of the senior semi-finalists chosen out of 90 senior girls. She qualifies to go to nationals which will be held in Baton Rouge, La., in July 2010.
