Tamaqua High School's Library Media Center held a Scholastic Book Fair and Family day Friday.

The week-long annual book fair event is a celebration of reading, and a literacy promotion event. Students were encouraged to purchase books for themselves to benefit the high school library media center. These books will be used for both the Accelerated Reader program and for student's leisure reading.

Students visited the book fair during their Language Arts classes, and student library aides assisted with its operation. This year, as a thank you for bringing their classes to browse at the book fair in past years, each Language Arts teacher received an award of $25 each to select books for their classrooms.

Corinne Betz, Library Media Specialist, organized the fair, which runs through Monday at the end of the school day.
