Helping to feed those in need
The Living Hope Lighthouse Church in Palmerton and The Ladies Auxiliary of the R.W. Fritzinger VFW Post 7215 in Slatington teamed up to made sure the homeless were not forgotten during Thanksgiving.
Bradley Billig, church member and member of the Christian Motorcycle Association graciously accepted the food donation from The Ladies Auxiliary.
The Christ UCC located in Walnutport was the designated pick-up site.
Billig along with other members of the Living Hope parish and Christian club members cooked the four turkeys along with the trimmings at their homes
On Thanksgiving Day they rode their bikes followed with cars filled with the food to center city, Allentown where they set up tarps and tables to feed the homeless.
Billig headed up the Homeless Outreach program in May.
"When we first went down they heard our bikes and hid but now they know we are coming with food. We have approximately 25 men and women who we feed each time," said Billig
Every third Sunday of the month the Palmerton groups come together, make a meal and transport the food to Allentown where they feed the hungry.
