The Girl Scouts in Service Unit 310, Tamaqua, in conjunction with the Tamaqua Lions Club, held their third annual used eyeglass collection during the week of Halloween. The scouts were asked to collect the glasses, with many of them leaving door hangers regarding the collection on residences, then either picking them up while Trick or Treating or through other arrangements. All scouts collecting five pairs of spectacles received a certificate and those collecting 10 pair also received a patch. All 27 girls who participated collected at least 10 pairs, for a total of 425 pairs. The top three collectors were Rachel Paisley with 60, Talia Lewis with 41 and Kaitlyn Bender with 40. Certificates and patches were presented at St. John United Church of Christ, Tamaqua.
