Christ United Church of Christ presents 'live nativity'
The angels appear to the shepherds.
In a series of scenes leading up to the baby and his parents, shepherds, the kings and angels posing for the finale, Christ UCC, Walnutport, presented a live nativity.
Separating the scenes were the first verses of carols that emphasized the steps of the nativity display: "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear," "Away in a Manger," "Hark the Herald Angels Sing, etc."
Harvey Eckhart sang a solo and led the audience in the carols that helped tell the story of Christ's birth.
Participating in the nativity were: Courtney Blocker as Mary; Justin Boger as Joseph; Rebecca Blocker, Morgan Thomas Makayla Smale and Kasey Wayda as angels; Skylar Green, Robert Blocker and Lenny Bishop as shepherds; John Kocher, Pete Wayda and Glenn Beers as the wise men; William Turk as King Herod; and Cheryl Boger as the census taker.
Everyone was invited to the basement of the church for cocoa and cookies but many were more interested in going to the sheep pen and admiring the animals.
An invitation was extended to attend church at Christ UCC for any of the Christmas or regular services.
