A state trooper was injured Wednesday afternoon when involved in a crash along state route 309 in West Penn Township, Schuylkill County. The crash occurred just before 4 p.m. in the north bound lanes just north of the village of South Tamaqua. They trooper, from the Fogelsville barracks, was operating an unmarked cruiser when it became involved in a crash involving a tri axle dump truck. The impact with the cruiser was at the driver's door, smashing out the driver's door window and impacting with the two driver's side doors. The trooper was treated at the scene by members of the Tamaqua ambulance and transported to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale. One of the two north bound lanes of traffic was closed. State police at Frackville are investigating the incident.

A trooper at the Frackville barracks identified the trooper involved in the crash as Jason Reznick. He said a coal truck was crossing Route 309 to enter a private drive when it struck Reznick's cruiser. Reznick suffered moderate injuries to his hip and leg, the trooper said.
