Lansford man sentenced for DUI

A Lansford man was one of seven who recently pleaded guilty to criminal charges in Schuylkill County court and were sentenced by Judge D.Michael Stine.

Charles W. Curry, 61, of 249 E. Patterson St., was sentenced on a driving under the influence (DUI) from alcohol, and is now serving a six months probation sentence after spending 48 hours in the county prison over the past weekend. He must also pay a fine of $500, undergo outpatient treatment, pay $100 to the Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, and $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) fund.

For failing to have his car lights on during the required period, he was also fined $25 plus $50 costs. Curry was cited by Patrolman Robert Minnick,Coaldale police, last Jan. 19.

Also sentenced were:

Gerald Daniel Murphy, 32, of 122 Valley St., New Philadelphia, who pleaded guilty to DUI. His sentenced was deferred to November in order for the adult probation department prepare a presentence investigative report for the court. Murphy was cited by Chief Jon Bowman, Port Carbon police, last Sept. 11.

Kyle Charles Smerlick, 26, Port Carbon, was placed on probation two years on a charge of possession of a prohibited offensive weapon. He was cited by Chief Bowman on Oct. 11, 2007.

Robert Matthew Hoysock, 25, Pottsville, was placed on probation 12 months on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana. He was cited by Cpl. Mark O'Toole, Pottsville police, last Feb. 6 on a charge of driving while his license was suspended and fined $200 plus $40 costs.

Matthew Michael Moll, 26, Pottsville, was sentenced to serve 90 days to five years in the county prison on a DUI charge, beginning Sept. 15 at 9 a.m. He was also fined $1,500 and $1,000 for driving while his license was suspended and his license was suspended an additional 18 months. He was cited by Trooper Mario Pompei when stopped on Peach Mountain Road in Norwegian Township on March 30, 2008.

Germaine Lynn Mennig, 43, Tremont, on a DUI charge, was placed in the Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) for six months, fined $1,000, license suspended 12 months and must perform 20 hours community service. Mennig was cited by Patrolman Martin Gilbert, Minersville police, last Oct. 26. On a charge of failing to have a license he was fined $200.

Brandon Keith Reinoehl, 33, Valley View, on a DUI charge, is now on probation for six months after serving 72 hours in the county prison, fined $1,000 and costs. He was cited by Trooper Thomas Hornung last Nov. 8 on Fearnot Road in Hubley Township.

Patrick J. Fogarty, 37, Shenandoah, was sentenced to serve 11 months and 14 days to 23 months and 28 days in the county prison on a charge of aggravated assault with a weapon. He was cited by Patrolman Jason Hayes, Shenandoah police, on Aug. 31, 2008.

All defendants were also ordered to pay various costs and fines as outlined by the court.
