Tamaqua man cited for DUI

A Tamaqua man has been cited following a traffic stop in the borough last week.

Borough police were on patrol when they observed Terry Bachert, of 515 Arlington St., Tamaqua, operating a vehicle in the 400 block of Hazle Street. Officers had warned Bachert earlier about getting behind the wheel as he was in an inebriated state.

Police instituted the traffic stop after observing the vehicle swerving side to side with Bachert behind the wheel.

After failing field sobriety tests Bachert's blood alcohol content level was tested.

The test indicated a .214 alcohol level, almost three times the legal limit of .08.

He was cited for driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol.
