On this date

Two members of the Mahoning Valley Fire Company were named "Firemen of the Year" during a dinner program at the fire hall. Warren Steigerwalt, a Mahoning Valley electrician, and Charles Beck, owner of BZ Agway, Mahoning Valley, were the surprise award recipients. Beck, 83, is a co-founder and charter member of the fire company. Heaping praise on the recipients were Fire Chief Dan Hine and Fire Company President Lee Becker.
