Why are the trees being cut?

Dear Editor:

Who owns the G.A.R. cemetery in Summit Hill? And if it is private, why are the borough workers cutting down the beautiful shade trees, which line the Cemetery Road?

A member of the Shade Tree committee told me that no experts were brought in to inspect the trees. Instead the committee can tell by looking at the tree that it is deceased and needs to be cut down,

You have to love the science behind these ideas. As I write this the trees are being cut down. It's a shame nobody respects the tax payers (oops, dirty words in this town) in this town enough to ask our opinion on these matters. Makes you wonder why we bother to vote.
