Rear-end crash probed

State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating a rear-end crash on Tuesday, Oct. 6, about 12:35 p.m. along Merwinsburg Road at the intersection with SR115, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County.

Troopers said a 1998 Dodge Durango, driven by George V. Balas, 18, of Effort, rear-ended a 1996 GMC Savana operated by Vincent Kratzer, 82, also of Effort.

Troopers said Kratzer suffered minor injuries in the mishap and was treated at the scene by West End ambulance personnel. Balas was not hurt.

The Dodge had to be towed from the scene.
