Tamaqua hires coaches

The Tamaqua Area School Board hired several coaches at its meeting Tuesday evening.

Tom Scheitrum was rehired as an assistant girls basketball coach, at the salary of $2,174.

Ellen Troxell was retained as assistant swimming coach, at $1,892.

Sam Schaefer was rehired as assistant track and field coach, at $2,489.

Greg Stewart was hired as an assistant wrestling coach at $3,037. Stewart is also the school's head boys soccer coach.

The following were approved as volunteer coaches: George Sanchez and Rick Rynkiewicz, both of Tamaqua, and Jonathan Mashack, Quakake, for wrestling; Craig Valentine, Tamaqua, baseball; and John Kotchmar, Jr., Tamaqua, track and field.
