Schuylkill crashes
State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roadways.
A crash occurred about 3:58 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, along SR501 in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Harry M. Mausser, 45, of Valley View, was driving a 2002 Saturn SC1 southbound when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle started to skid out of contor. The car crossed the center line and entered tne northbound lane and then onto the berm. The car struck guide rail.
After impact with the guide rail the car became airborne for about 10 feet before striking a tree. The car sheered the tree off at the ground level and continued aiborne for another 45 feet before striking a second tree and ocming to rest on its roof.
Mausser was taken by Pine Grove ambulance to the Hershey Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries, troppers said. Troopers cited Mausser for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
A one vehicle crash was reported on Saturday, Oct. 24, about 9:59 a.m. along SR183 in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Carolyn B. Smithy, 23, of Lebanon, was southbound and negotiating a left hand curve when her 1993 Ford Explorer began to slid on the wet roadway. Smithy tried to regain control but was unable to do so before it slid across the northbound lane and off the east side where it struck an embankment.
The vehicle then traveled eastward for about 20 feet before traveling back down the embankment and striking a concrete culvert.
Troopers said Smithy sustained a minor injury but refused medical treatment. The vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
Troopers cited Smithy for traveling on roadways laned for traffic.
Troopers investigated another one vehicle crash on Saturday, about 6:30 a.m., along SR61 in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Dustin D. Dewitt, 20, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 1999 Dodge Ram pickup truck northbound near Tumbling Run Road when he his a large boulder. Troopers said Dewitt didn't see the boulder due to dark and rainy conditions.
Damages were disabling to the vehicle and Dewitt was not injured.
