File for divorce

Amy Zimmerman, 35 Swatara St., Tamaqua, started a divorce proceeding against Jeffrey Zimmerman, 20 S. 23rd Street, Pottsville. They were married Aug. 4, 2006.

Tara Nattress, 568 Vermont Road, Mohntoin, Berks County, filed for divorce from Brian D. Nattress, 238 E. Broad St., Tamaqua. They were married July 15, 2006.

Granted divorce

Thomas J. Killian, Tamaqua, was granted a divorce from Elizabeth H. Killian, Shenandoah. They were married Sept. 3, 1972.

James J. Donovan, Hummelstown, was granted a divorce from Pamela L. Donovan, Schuylkill Haven. They were married April 23, 1988.

Tammy L. DePrisco was granted a divorce from Justin A. DePrisco, both of MaryD, Schuylkill Township. They were married July 16, 2004.

Louise A. Kelly Prutzman was granted a divorce from George J. Prutzman, both of Saint Clair. They were married Feb. 5, 2005.

Win tax appeals

Michael T. Perno, 86 Broad Mountain View Drive, Jim Thorpe, appealed the tax assessment on the property he owns at 224 First St., Girardville, and the Schuylkill County Assessments Appeals Board approved a decrease and revalued the market value of the property from $32,750 to $21,540 and reduced the assessment from $16,375 to $10,770, a decrease in assessment of $5,605 for the real esate 2010 tax year.

Chris and Deborah McKinley, 34 Oxford St., Tamaqua, appealed the tax assessment on their property at 39 Lafayette St., Tamaqua, and the tax assessment board approved a decrease in the market value from $165,000 to $119,700 and reduced the assessment from $82,800 to $59,000, a reduction of $22,950 in assessment for the 2010 tax year.

Revoke probation

Michael Jessman, 27, Frackville, had his probation revoked by Judge D. Michael Stine for violating the terms of his probation, failing to notify his probation officer within 48 hours of a new arrest and failing to abstain from the unlawful possession of narcotics. He was re-sentenced on a burglary charge to serve six to 23 months in the county prison with credit for having served 21 days followed by two years on probation.

Lisa R. Wells, 40, Williamstown, had her probation revoked by President Judge Willliam E. Baldwin and was re-sentenced to serve two to 23 months in the county prison beginning Nov. 30 at 9 a.m. and must submit to random drug testing at any time until she reports to prison. If she tests positive at any time she will be remanded to prison. She had been placed on probation for 12 months last May for receiving a check stolen from a Tower City couple.

Brad Eiler, 27, Schuylkill Haven, had his parole revoked by Baldwin and he was recommitted to the county prison to serve on his sentence and his 151 days of libery taken away. He had pled guilty to possession of drugs.

Fabian McGee, 30, Port Carbon, had his probation revoked by Stine for failing to report a new arrest and failing to obstain from possession of narcotics and he was re-sentenced to serve three to 12 months in the county prison on drug charges.

Dustin Charles Parsons, 23, Mahanoy City, had his probation revoked for the second time by Stine and he was re-sentenced to serve two to four years in a state correctional institution. After a hearing he was found by the judge to have violated 10 conditions of his parole. He had pleaded guilty in February 2008 to burglary, theft and criminal mischief charges and after serving three months in the county prison was placed on probation 23 months

Withdraws plea

Kimberly Faith Aregood, 41, Schuylkill Haven, who had pleaded guilty to drug charges was allowed by Judge Baldwin to withdraw her plea and her case was placed on the trial list.

Non-jury trial

A contractor who made an error on a construction project has to pay dearly according to a a verdict handed down by Judge Stine after a trial without a jury.

Arthur Kaplan and Alan Kaplan, owners of a property off SR924 in Frackville brought the suit against Kriger Construction Company Inc., of Dickinson City, which had a contract with PennDOT to construct an access road in the area of the Kaplan property and the company trespassed on the private property. The court awarded the Kaplans damages totaling $21,485.50.
