Theft of gun at rifle range probed

The theft of a gun at a rifle range is being probed.

Nesquehoning police chief Sean Smith said he received a report of the theft that occurred at the Pennsylvania Game Commission Rifle Range located off SR93 in the borough. On Oct. 22 Thomas Rowley, of 443 Bertsch Park Drive, Brick, N.J., reported he was at the range with his son and placed a 1930 .22-caliber Highfield model B pistol with a 10 round magazine at the shooting table at the pistol side of the range. He left the gun on the table as he walked down range to look at his target. When he returned the gun was gone.

Rowley said he saw a white male in the area af the time and described him as being 55 to 65 years of age, five-feet, eight-inches tall wearing a dirty baseball hat. Rowley told Smith he believes the man was the one who took the gun.
