Two arrested for shoplifting
Two persons were arrested for shoplifting at a Monroe County store.
Pocono Mountain Regional police said on Tuesday, Oct. 27, about 4 p.m. officers were called to the K-mart store in Mt. Pocono for two persons in custody of store security for theft.
Police said an investigation determined that Chassidy Rutt, 26, of Dunmore, Lackawanna County, and Derek Banks, 37, of Waymart, Wayne County, conspired to steal numerous video games totaling $244.90 in value.
Prior to the arrival of officers, Banks had discarded hypodermic needles and empty waxine heroin baggies so police could not find them. Officers searched Banks' vehicle, which was parked in the store lot, and found another hypodermic needle as well as three more empty waxine heroin baggies.
Banks was charged with criminal conspiracy, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence. Rutt was charged with criminal conspiracy and retail theft.
The two were jailed pending arraignment.
