Lions to meet
The Summit Hill Lions Club will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 6:30 p.m. at the Parkview Inn, Summit Hill. Dr. Kenneth Vermillion, president, will be in charge of the session.
The guest speaker Dawn Ferrante, director of the Carbon County Office of Economic Development.
Dinner will be served.
St. Paul Lutheran
The schedule for St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, for the week of Oct. 25 is as follows:
Sunday, Oct. 25 - Sunday school, 9 a.m.; and service of worship, 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 28 - Parish Life Committee meeting, 7 p.m.
SHCIO meeting
The Summit Hill Community Improvement Organization will hold a special meeting on Monday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall. The purpose of the session is to discuss the possibilities of a Main Street Program for Summit Hill.
SHCIO is encouraging all interested parties to attend to voice suggestions and ideas for community development and improvement. Businesses and organizations as well as individuals are welcome.

Trick or Treat
Summit Hill Mayor Paul R. McArdle has set Saturday, Oct. 31, as Trick or Treat Night in the borough. Youths are encouraged to participate in the activity between 6-8 p.m., during which time added police patrols will be assigned to help ensure the safety of the participants.
Shade Tree plans
The Summit Hill Shade Tree Commission will be conducting the fall planting on the streets of the borough on the last weekend in October. This is the 10th year the commission has been restoring and maintaining the trees in the community.
Orders for new trees will be placed in mid-October. Any business or homeowner interested in participating in the program can call Lou Vermillion, (570) 645-9772, or John Kupec, 645-9964, for more information.
Food distribution
The Summit Hill Food Pantry will conduct its monthly distribution of food boxes to the needy in the community on Tuesday, Oct. 27, starting at 9 a.m. Anyone in need of the assistance, or knowing of individuals or families who do, is asked to contact Rose Marie Armon, (570) 645-3604, or Emma Weaver, 645-7348.
The pantry, a non-denominational entity, is always in need of donations and manual assistance. To donate items or your time, contact the above persons as well.
Coaldale
Veterans Day Choir
Anyone who is interested in singing in the Veterans Day Choir at First Congregational Church on Nov. 8, is welcome to attend a choir rehearsal at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the church. Participants will rehearse special music on this date and at another rehearsal at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4.
Services at the church are as follows:
Sunday, Oct. 25 - 9 a.m. Morning Worship; 10 a.m. Sunday School.
Sunday, Nov. 1 - 9 a.m. Morning Worship; 10 a.m. Sunday School.
