A traffic stop in Monroe County has led to drug charges against the driver.

Pocono Mountain Regional police officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic code violation about 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, along SR196 at Echo Lake Road, in Coolbaugh Township.

The driver was identified as Michael Carey, 30, of East Stroudsburg. Officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and observed several large zip lock bags of marijuana lying on the floor.

A search by K-9 Kane located another zip lock bag of marijuana under a seat in the vehicle along with a fresh rolled marijuana blunt. A digit scale was also found in the vehicle.

Carey was placed under arrest and charged with possession with intent to deliver along with other drug-related charges.
