Garden club
The Lewistown Valley Garden Club held its 63rd annual dinner at the Pioneer Evergreen Farms, Orwigsburg, on Oct. 27. The group had the distinction of being the first organization to be served in the facility's new restaurant. Kenny Fetherolf of Forget Me Not Florists presented a program on topiary and details of the history of the farm, florist and gift shops and the special events held throughout the year.
Established in 1945 by Ralph and Jean Fetherolf, the place was a dairy farm of approximately 100 acres. Now expanded to almost 600 acres, the farm is still owned and operated by descendants of the Fetherolf family. The garden club was given a tour of the gift and florist shops and had the opportunity to ask questions.
The next club meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Nov. 17, in the social hall of Zions Church in the Lewistown Valley. A program on Williamsburg designs will be provided by Evelyn Adams. The public is welcome to attend.
