Nesquehoning
Kids' Christmas party
The Nesquehoning Recreation Center will host a Nesquehoning Kids' Christmas party on Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. All kids must be 10 and under. To register call (570) 669-9121 or 669-5554. Someone will return your call to confirm reservation. The deadline is Nov. 29.
Free Thanksgiving meal
Meed's UMC will host its annual Free Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday, Nov. 22 with servings at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Come out to enjoy the meal and fellowship and share all of the blessings the past year has brought.
In order to prepare, the church is asking those interested in attending to call (570) 669-6142 or 669-9346 to make reservations for the time of the seating that they would like to attend.
Summit Hill
Historical Society
The regular monthly meeting of the Summit Hill Historical Society will be held at the museum Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 7 p.m. in the museum on East Ludlow Street.
The nominating committee will make a report as to the slate of officers for the coming year. Election of officers will be held at the December meeting.
All members of SHCIO are invited to attend to discuss plans for working together on future projects. Anyone interested in local history and working to improve Summit Hill is welcome.
Carol Miller will report on the society's latest project of replacing worn and illegible tombstones of Summit Hill's Civil War veterans. Also, Lee Mantz will report on the success of his pictorial history of Summit Hill.

Office to be closed
The Summit Hill Water Authority office will be closed on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 26-27, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
Bloodmobile planned
The Miller-Keystone Bloodmobile will visit Summit Hill in December. Sponsored by St. Joseph Catholic Church, the bloodmobile will be headquartered in the church hall on Wednesday, Dec. 16, from 2-7 p.m. A goal of 35 pints has been set.
Miller-Keystone Blood Center is the only blood supplier to our local hospitals (Blue Mountain Health System Lehighton and Palmerton, St. Luke's Hospital and Health Network, Miner's Memorial, Coaldale).
Choir to rehearse
St. Joseph Catholic Church choir will rehearse on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m. in the church. Bob Ames, director, will be in charge and welcomes new members.
Church meeting
The D.O.C.S. group of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, will meet tonight at 7 o'clock in the church.
Scripture sharing
St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, sponsors scripture-sharing group sessions on Thursdays at 7 p.m. in the church hall. The group is studying the "New Testament, Letters to the Romans."
