On this date

A Lehighton woman was the recipient of the highest award for leadership obtainable from the Minsi Trails Scout Council. Mrs. Warren E. Long, Second Avenue, was presented the Silver Fawn Award during the council's fourth annual recognition dinner at Allentown College of St. Francis de Sales, Center Valley. More than 900 people attended the event. Mrs. Long is considered one of the most active residents in the Lehighton area in scouting and community affairs.
