Palmerton man admits to indecent assault count
A Palmerton man admitted to an indecent assault count involving a teenage boy.
He was one of several defendants in pending criminal cases to enter a guilty plea before Carbon County Judge David W. Addy.

Larry Wanamaker, 54, also pleaded to one count of corruption of a minor.
Police charged that Wanamaker had indecent contact with an 18-year-old male on two occasions on June 8 and 26.
Addy deferred sentencing and ordered Wanamaker undergo a mental health evaluation and also a sexual offenders board evaluation since the indecent assault falls under the provisions of Megan's Law.
Other pleas
Michael Paul Rehrig, 26, of Palmerton, pleaded guilty to one count each of fleeing or attempting to elude police, simple assault and receiving stolen property.
Rehrig was arrested following a high speed chase that occurred on Sept. 22 along Forest Inn Road and other areas of Towamensing Township. Officer Audie Mertz assisted in the pursuit and was listed as a victim of the assault. Police said speeds reached 120 miles-per-hour.
On the fleeing charge Addy sentenced him to serve 30 days to one year in jail; on the simple assault count, one year probation; and on the receiving charge one year probation. The prison term is consecutive to the probation terms, which are concurrent to each other.
He was also ordered to render 100 hours of community service and supply a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee. The jail term begins on Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. and he was granted work release privileges.
Trevor Scott Hunsicker, 21,of Palmerton, pleaded in two separate cases. He pleaded to one count of simple assault and a summary charge of driving at a safe speed for an incident on April 23 along Fairyland Road in Franklin Township. Amanda Parisi is listed as the victim of the assault.
He also pleaded to one count of criminal trespass for an incident on June 26 in the area of 223 1/2 N. First St., in Lehighton.
On the assault count he was sentenced to serve 30 days to 11 months in prison and on the trespass charge he was placed on probation for 11 months.
Addy also ordered him to make restitution of $726, zero tolerance on drug or alcohol use, and render three hours of community service per month while on probation. On the summary charge he was fined $25 and costs.
He was given credit for 30 days spent in jail and paroled.
David J. Batz, 36, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of driving under the influence (DUI). He was arrested on May 20 along Delaware Avenue in Palmerton. Given a test, the result was .11BAC.
Addy deferred sentencing to give Batz a chance to apply for placement in the Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP).
Nicholas W. Cihylik Jr., 47, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of DUI. He was arrested on July 27 along W. Lizard Creek Rd., in East Penn Township. Given a test, the result was .21BAC.
Addy sentenced him to serve five days to six months in jail, a fine of $300 and costs, one year license suspension, get a D&A evaluation and zero tolerance on D&A use. He begins the jail term at 9 a.m. on Nov. 16.
Joshua Lee Koch, 25, of Lehighton, pleaded on one count of DUI. He was arrested on April 1 along Main Rd., in Franklin Township. Given a test, the result was .19BAC.
He was sentenced to serve five days to six months in jail, a fine of $300 and costs, one year license suspension, get a D&A evaluation and zero tolerance on D&A use. He will serve the jail time on consecutive weekends beginning Nov. 13 at 7 p.m.
Freddie Rodriguez, 28. and Tanya Mae Usry, 30, both of Allentown, pleaded to one count each of false identification to law enforcement authorities. Rodriguez also pleaded to a summary offense of driving under suspension.
The two were arrested following a vehicle stop along SR248 near the Palmerton exit on May 23. Both gave false names to the state police and a check revealed Rodriguez had a suspended sentence.
Addy placed both on probation for a year. On the suspension charge Rodriguez was fined $200 and costs.
