PV-No. Schuylkill game switched to Pottsville

The Panther Valley-North Schuylkill District 11 Class 2A semifinal football game has been moved to Veterans Memorial Stadium in Pottsville on Saturday night. Kickoff is still set for 7 o'clock.

The Spartans, who are the No. 1 seed, were supposed to host the game, but muddy conditions and poor drainage forced the switch in venues.

District 11 chairman Jack Wabby checked out the field on Tuesday and after meeting with North Schuylkill adminstrators, athleitc director Jim Gross and head football coach Rick Geist, the move was made when Wabby deemed the field unplayable.

District officials said they didn't want to take the chance of rain coming in later this week and posing a bigger problem.

Mahanoy Area and Shenandoah Valley were the first two choices to host the game, but neither were available.
