DUI arrests reported by PSP
State police at Lehighton reported on several persons that have driving under the influence (DUI) charges pending against them.
Troopers said on Friday, Oct. 23, about 11:23 p.m. Ryan Michael Eckhart, 24, of Church Rd., Palmerton, was driving westbound on 57 Road in the area of Zeigre Drive, in Towamensing Township, when his vehicle left the road and became stuck in a grass field. Eckhart was taken to his home by a passing motorist.
At his home Eckhart fled on foot and was apprehended a short time later. As the result of the incident troopers said Eckhart will be charged with DUI, resisting arrest and several traffic violations.
On Sunday, Oct. 25, about 7:04 a.m. Eileen McNaughton, 51, of Kunkletown, was westbound on Meixsell Valley Road driving a Plymouth Sundance. The car left the road and struck a telephone pole. McNaughton was taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for a blood test, troopers said.
Also responding to the scene were Polk Township and Blue Ridge fire company volunteers.
On Saturday about 2:51 a.m. Daniel S. Leslie, 47, of Palmerton, was stopped for a traffic violation along Mauch Chunk Road in Bowmanstown. He was found to be under the influence and transported to the barracks for further testing. The DUI charge is pending.
On Sunday about 2:48 a.m. Cynthia E. Mahar, 48, of 5746 Long Court, New Tripoli, was observed driving south of Forest Inn Road, near Fireline Road, in Lower Towamensing Township, when stopped for several moving violations. She was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest for DUI. She is also facing charges of driving on roadways laned for traffic, careless drivng, and restriction on alcoholic beverages, troopers said.
