CCTI moves to add new class to curriculum

Published November 21. 2009 09:00AM

The Joint Operating Committee for the Carbon Career and Technical Institute voted last night to begin the work necessary to introduce an Architectural and Civil Drafting/CAD program into the curriculum at CCTI. The program is only in the beginning stages, with this approval being the first step towards launching the course.

The board's vote to approve the initial work of developing the course will allow CCTI Administrative Director David Reinbold to move toward making this

program a reality. Reinbold told the JOC that he has already done some preliminary work on what it would take to have this course offered at the school. The work of getting the program approved with the board of education is currently underway.

The Architectural and Civil Drafting/CAD program would be a computer drafting course allowing students to learn techniques that includes instruction in CAD software and other architectural concepts. The program would prepare students to complete accurate architectural working plans, cross-sections and details for engineering drawings.

The CAD program, computer aided drafting, would be another important addition to the courses offered at CCTI. The current projected date for the use of the Architectural and Civil Drafting/CAD course is for the 2011-2012 school year.
