Kidder residents brace for electric rate hike

Kidder Township residents are facing an electric rate hike. The decade-old caps placed on the electric companies in Pennsylvania will expire at the end of this year. On January 1, 2010, residents could see their electric rate increase up to 30 percent. The typical home in Pennsylvania will spend around $380 more for electricity in 2010 than it did in 2009.

There is still hope for those who wish to try and save money. Residents have the right to comparatively shop electric service providers to find the best rate available. Kidder Township residents might want to check with other companies besides PPL such as ConEdison to see if they can save money.

If residents are going to try and switch electric providers they should do so as soon as possible. Typically when you change an electric provider it is after the customer's meter is read so that it will fall on a new billing cycle. A customer's billing cycle could be anywhere from 28 days to up to 35 days depending on weekends and holidays within the month.
