Vehicle stop leads to criminal counts

A vehicle stop in Monroe County has led to charges pending against the driver.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said Elaine Innocent, 30, of Tobyhanna, was stopped about 1:06 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, along SR115 at Interstate 80, in Tobyhanna Township, for failing to stop for a red traffic signal while southbound.

At the stop officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. When police asked for her driver's license, Innocent said she did not have it with her and gave the name of Jocelyn Jean. After running the license plate on the car, it indicated a male owner. After confronting her with that information, Innocent gave her correct name.

She was taken into custody for false identification to law enforcement officers. When she exited the car marijuana was observed on the floor and a baggie containing white colored pills, suspected to be ecstasy, was found on the drivers' side door pouch,

The vehicle was searched by K-9 Kane and a positive indication was made for narcotics.

The false ID and drug counts will be filed, police said.
