Lansford's winter parking regulations in effect
Numerous streets are affected by Lanford's winter parking bans.
They include:
The 200, 300, and 400 blocks of West Kline Avenue. No parking is allowed on those blocks until April 1.
The business district on Ridge Street from Springgarden Street to Centre Street bans parking on the south side of the street from midnight until 8 a.m. from November 1 until April 1.
The borough snow ordinance bans parking on the north and east sides of the street on odd-numbered days the day following a snowfall of 4 inches or more and no parking on the south and west sides of the street on even-numbered days the day following a snowfall of 4 inches or more.
Those violating the snow ordinance face a minimum fine of $25 and/or the towing of the vehicle. The police department's goal is not to ticket as many vehicles as possible but to aid in assisting the street department in plowing and cindering. All residents are asked to cooperate in order to have the streets cleared properly.
Numerous other parking violations will also be enforced including blocking fire hydrant, driveways, parking in crosswalks, intersections, on sidewalks, over "T"s which separate parking spaces, double-parking, backing into parking spaces, right wheels to curb, and borough ordinances violations.
Other violations observed that will be enforced include parking of campers, trailers, and motor homes on borough streets and property for more than 48 hours, performing repairs to vehicles other than emergency repairs, vehicles leaking excessive fluid onto the streets, abandoned vehicles, and vehicles with expired registrations and inspections.
Expect fines ranging from tickets to citations and the possibility of the vehicle being towed.
The department once again asks all residents for their cooperation. Anyone with questions on any of the ordinances or statues is asked to contact the station at 570-645-5844.
