Tamaqua man cited for assault
A Tamaqua man has been cited following a reported assault.
Borough police officers were dispatched to 229 Schuylkill Ave., at 7:57 p.m. Sunday where they were met by Tony Mundo. Mundo was sitting on the front porch and was bleeding from a head wound. He told officers he had been struck by a Kyle Carter. Medical personnel were dispatched to the home.
According to Mundo and a witness, Carter, 28, of 317 Owl Creek Rd., had been exchanging heated words on the telephone. Carter was in a vehicle and drove to Schuylkill Avenue, parking near Mundo's home. Mundo walked down off the porch towards Carter's vehicle. Carter exited the vehicle and proceeded to swing a metal fence post at Mundo. The first blow was deflected by the victim's arm, but the second struck his head.
Carter fled the scene and was later charged with simple assault, simple assault with a weapon, harassment and disorderly conduct.
