Slatington man charged with using his employer's credit card to gamble at casino

Steven Walker, 37, of Slatington, may face trial on charges of using his employer's credit card to pay for a $20,000 binge in Atlantic City. Walker allegedly used his employer's business card, which was to be used for buying gas for the truck he drove, and spent $19,999 at the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Hotel in Atlantic City last December. According to to court papers, his former employer is a trucking firm based in Walnutport. Police said Walker had nothing to show for his time at the casino, and he fled the region. He was picked up in Georgia on outstanding warrants, one for violating parole in Lehigh County, where he was convicted of simple assault in 2008 and forgery in 2003. Walker waived his preliminary hearing before District Judge William Zaun. He was charged in April with 13 counts each of theft and access device fraud. He remains in Northampton County Prison in lieu of $12,500 bail.
